AYSO Region 9 Referee Information

How To Become A Region 9 Referee

The following are the steps required to referee for Region 9

1.    Determine what training, if any, you need

2.    Register to Volunteer with AYSO

3.    Register for your Referee Training Class and attend the class

4.    Complete the Online CVPA Training Course

5.    Sign up for Clubspaces, our Region 9 Referee Scheduling Program

6.    Schedule your games

These steps are described in detail below.  We suggest you print this web page for your reference.  We regret so many steps are required, but we are a very large youth soccer organization with over a thousand volunteers of one sort or another, and we need to make sure everyone is properly identified and trained.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Step 1 - Determine the Referee Qualifications You Need

To referee U07 - U08 matches, you only need to be a U08 Certified Referee.

To referee U10 and older matches, you must at least be a Basic (Regional) Referee.

If you are currently certified as a U08 Referee, and you want to upgrade to a Basic Referee, you must take additional referee training but not necessarily the entire Basic Referee Course.  Contact your Regional Director of Referee Instruction for more information.

Step 2 - Register as an AYSO Volunteer

Go to www.eayso.org.

If you are a returning volunteer, not necessarily a returning referee volunteer, click "Log In" using your previously established User ID (e-mail address) and password.  Update your personal information, renew your registration for the current year, and print your form for later use.

If you are a new volunteer, click the "First Time" button and provide all of the requested information.  Register for the current season and print a copy of your Volunteer Registration Form for future use.  Please record you eAYSO Identification and Password for future use.

Submit your printed form to an AYSO Region 9 Board Member as soon as possible so you can establish a permanent eAYSO ID Number.

Step 3 - Sign Up For Your Referee Training Course

Go back to eAYSO, and now that you have already registered as an AYSO Volunteer, "Log In" to the system using your previously established User ID and Password.  You will come to the following screen.

Select "Volunteers", and you will be taken to the following menu.

Click "Sign up for a course" and you will be taken to the following Course Sign Up screen.

Select the appropriate Course Name from the drop down menu, which you determined from step 1 above, to search and retrieve a list of appropriate courses.

To complete your class registration, select the course by clicking the little circle in the left column and then click "Register" at the bottom of the screen.  This will pre-register you for the training course you have selected and entered you upon the Course Instructor's Roster.  Questions or concerns regarding the course should be addressed to the Course Instructor at the listed Email address.

Attend the course, complete your exam and the Course Instructor will enter your Referee Certification in eAYSO for future reference.  This is why it is important you renew your registration with eAYSO rather than register as a new volunteer each season; your certifications stay with your individual eAYSO Registration Number.

Bring your eAYSO Voluntere Registration Form to the first class so you may be "verified" into the system.

Step 4 - Complete the Online CVPA Training Course

This thirty (30) minute online training course is provided by AYSO at www.aysotraining.org

After making sure you have your AYSO ID number, which you can retrieve from eAYSO, click the "I have my AYSO ID Number" button.

Select the course "Safe Haven for Referees" and you will be taken to the following registration page.

Enter the required information and complete the course.  Upon completion, please print the Certificate and provide to the Region 9 Referee Staff.

Step 5 - Register with Clubspaces, our Region 9 Referee Scheduling Program.

From Region 9's Home Page scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "Client Login" or go directly to:

Step 6 - Schedule Your Games.

 Referee Scheduling Instructions

From Region 9's Home Page scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "Client Login" or go directly to:
https://aysoregion9.d4sportsreg.com/

Assuming that you have already Registered as an AYSO Referee in the ClubSpaces system then login with your e-mail address and password.  If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the link just below the login to have it sent to your e-mail address.  You should see a screen similar to the following:

Click on the My Ref/Ump tab to see the following page:

Click on Referee Schedule to see games you have already signed up for; or Referee Volunteer for Games to sign up for a new game.

When you first select Referee Volunteer ... you will see ALL Region 9 games, Saturday youth games and Sunday Adult games.  From the drop-down list under Program select Fall 2008 Referee; the screen will refresh and you will see only the youth games:

To sign up for a game, Center or AR1 or AR2 (you can ignore Mentor) click on the little plus page icon just to the left of --Open--.  Make certain that is the game and slot you want to volunteer for.  Your name will now appear in the schedule:

To view your schedule, or to Accept or Decline assignments, click on My Schedule; you will see the following:

To designate your Team Referee Points, click "PTS" and the following screen will appear.

Select your team from the drop down box.  You will need the exact team number to make this appointment.

In the future you "Decline" your game assignment, which you can do via the Acpt/Decl box in the "My Schedule" page. Once you accept an assignment you can only change your mind by contacting your Referee Scheduler.  Please make certain you either accept or decline a game no later than the Wednesday before it is scheduled to be played, otherwise it may given to another referee.

You must still go to the Referee Tent at least 15 minutes before the assigned game to sign in, and you must actually work the game in order to receive Team Referee Points.

That is it.  Questions concerning training should be sent to our Director of Instruction.  Questions concerning Volunteer Registration Form should be send to the Region 9 CVPA Coordinator. Questions concerning referee scheduling should be directed to our Director of Referee Scheduling. All Email addresses can be located upon the Referee Web Page at www.aysoregigon9.org.
