Post Season Opportunities
To All Referees:
AYSO Soccer does not end with the Fall Season. Many players continue playing soccer with All Star teams, Tournament Teams, and Premier League Teams.
Area Play. Champion
League Teams plus All Star Teams will continue to compete against similar
teams from other Regions intermittently between December and March to
determine Area and then Section Champions.
Many matches are played at our fields, but some are played in our neighboring
Regions, from Simi Valley to Newbury Park. The Section Championship games
will usually be played in Bakersfield.
Premier League. Premier League is an extension of the Region 9 Fall Season. It usually commencing in January and ending in early March. Players not participating in Area Play who wish to continue soccer are formed into new teams and play on Saturday mornings at Conejo Creek. Play is informal and standings are not kept. Premier League is a great opportunity for less experience referees and youth referees to advance their referee experience as a "Center Referee" and with older player mataches.
Tournament Teams. Tournament Teams are comprised of competitive age players (U10 - U19) to play competitive level soccer against teams from AYSO Regions through out Southern California. Most tournaments occur after the conclusion of Area Play in February and will continue through June. Tournaments usually required participating teams to provide certified and qualified referees to work matches at tournaments, who will work two or three games each weekend the Tournament Team is playing.
Pot O' Gold. The Pot O Gold Soccer Tournament is Region 9's primary fund raiser for the season. Teams from through out Southern California will join us for a weekend of Tournament Team competition at Conejo Creek. Split into two weekends, one for boys and one for girls, this Tournament will traditionally take place during March and features full-length soccer matches for teams U10 through U19.
As you can see, we continue to need referee support long after the Fall Season concludes. Each of the above referee activities offer an opportunity to advance your referee skills and support the children of our community. Even a few Saturdays of help will go a long way towards meeting our referee needs.
We will send a message to all referees during November soliciting volunteers to help with these post season above activities. Contact me if you are interested in helping or have questions concerning post season opportunities.
